Mango Leaf Brings Authentic South Indian Flavours to NE Calgary

If you’ve been looking for a new South Indian restaurant to try in Calgary, Mango Leaf deserves a spot on your list.

Located in Northeast Calgary, Mango Leaf offers a menu filled with authentic South Indian favourites alongside Indo-Chinese dishes, flavourful curries, and delicious desserts all served in a bright, modern, and welcoming space.

First Impressions

From the moment we walked in, we loved the restaurant’s atmosphere. The space feels fresh, clean, and beautifully designed, making it a great spot whether you’re grabbing lunch with friends, enjoying dinner with family, or planning a casual date night.

Of course, we couldn’t decide on just one dish, so we ordered a variety of menu favourites.

What We Ordered

🌶️ Hyderabad Chicken 65

This was easily one of the standout dishes of the meal. We ordered it at a medium spice level, and it delivered just the right amount of heat while letting all the incredible flavours shine through. The chicken was unbelievably tender and packed with flavour.

🍜 Masala Dosa

No visit to a South Indian restaurant is complete without ordering a Masala Dosa. Crispy on the outside and filled with perfectly seasoned potato masala, it was everything we hoped for especially when paired with the chutneys and sambar.

🍤 Prawn Masala

I’ve been craving a good prawn curry, and this one completely delivered. Rich, flavourful, and incredibly satisfying. As an added bonus, every curry comes with complimentary naan, making it an even better value.

🥢 Chicken Kothu Paratha

A comforting South Indian classic made by chopping flaky parotta and stir-frying it with chicken, vegetables, eggs, and spices. It was hearty, flavourful, and one of those dishes that keeps you coming back for another bite.

🍗 Vijayawada Punugulu

These soft, fluffy South Indian fritters were the perfect appetizer to kick off the meal and paired wonderfully with the accompanying chutneys.

🍫 Sizzling Brownie

To end the meal, we couldn’t resist the sizzling brownie served on a hot plate with vanilla ice cream. Watching the warm chocolate sauce melt over the brownie was almost as enjoyable as eating it.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re craving a crispy dosa, a comforting curry, or simply looking to explore more South Indian cuisine, Mango Leaf is a fantastic new addition to Calgary’s food scene.

The welcoming atmosphere, authentic flavours, generous portions, and variety of dishes make it a restaurant we can’t wait to visit again.
