Something Wondrous 2026: A Free Indigenous Music & Culture Festival Near Calgary

If you’re looking for something a little different to do near Calgary this September, Something Wondrous deserves to be on your radar.

Something Wondrous: Southern Alberta’s Indigenous Music Festival is returning to Taza Park on Tsuut’ina Nation on Saturday, September 12, 2026, bringing together Indigenous music, art, fashion, food, traditional activities and community, and admission is completely free.

And despite the name, this isn’t just a music festival.

What Is Something Wondrous?

Something Wondrous is an annual festival designed to celebrate Indigenous artists, makers and culture while bringing people together at Taza Park.

This year’s event runs from 12 PM to 5 PM and features an Indigenous musical lineup alongside an expanded artisan market, food vendors, traditional games, a Tsuut’ina-led workshop and a new Indigenous fashion showcase.

It’s also an all-ages event, making it an easy option for families looking for something to do together.

Live Indigenous Music

Music is at the heart of Something Wondrous, with performances happening throughout the afternoon.

The 2026 schedule includes an opening ceremony followed by performances from Samantha Whitney and Daughters, Redfoot, Tyler Two Guns Band and Bebe Buckskin. The musical styles range from hip hop and country rock to blues, soul and Indigenous storytelling.

So even if you arrive for one particular part of the festival, there’ll be something happening throughout the afternoon.

A New Indigenous Fashion Showcase

One of the biggest additions for 2026 is the festival’s new Indigenous fashion showcase.

Produced and creatively directed by Authentically Curated, the showcase celebrates the artistry, identity and storytelling of Indigenous designers and will close out the festival from 4 PM to 5 PM.

It’s one of the parts of this year’s event we’re especially excited to see.

Shop Indigenous Artisans and Makers

Make some time to wander through the artisan market while you’re there.

The vendor lineup includes Indigenous-owned and local businesses selling everything from beadwork and jewellery to art, traditional regalia, clothing, wellness products and locally harvested honey.

It’s an opportunity not only to discover some incredibly talented makers, but also to purchase directly from the people creating the work.

Traditional Games, Workshops & Food

There’s plenty happening between performances too.

Visitors can participate in traditional games and a free Tsuut’ina lanyard teachings workshop, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase on-site, with options ranging from bannock and Indigenous-inspired comfort food to Indian-Mexican fusion, coffee, matcha and mini pancakes.
