The Cenovus Energy 2026 Grey Cup Festival: Free Events, Concerts, Rodeos & Everything You Need to Know

The Cenovus Energy 2026 Grey Festival and 113th Grey Cup are in Calgary and you definitely don’t have to be a football fan to get excited about this one.

The Grey Cup Festival is taking over Calgary from November 11–15, leading up to the 113th Grey Cup on Sunday.

But here’s what surprised us when we got a first look at everything that’s planned:

The football game is only one part of it.

We’re talking free street festivals, concerts, pancake breakfasts, rodeos, family activities, CFL team parties, nightly drone shows and even a country concert where you buy your ticket without knowing who’s performing.

And a surprising amount of Grey Cup week is completely free.

So whether you’re a CFL superfan or couldn’t name a single player, here’s what you need to know about the Grey Cup Festival in Calgary.

When Is the Grey Cup Festival in Calgary?

The Grey Cup Festival officially kicks off on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, with events continuing through Sunday, November 15.

Most of the action will take place around Stampede Park and Calgary’s Culture + Entertainment District, with both indoor and outdoor events happening throughout the week.

You Don’t Have to Care About Football to Go

This was probably our biggest takeaway when we got a first look at the Festival.

Grey Cup week isn’t being designed only for football fans.

There are obviously plenty of CFL experiences, but there’s also a huge amount of programming for families, music lovers, kids, groups of friends and anyone who simply wants something different to do in Calgary.

Honestly, you could spend an entire day at the Festival without watching a minute of football.

And some of the best experiences won’t cost you anything.

The Street Festival, presented by Suncor Is Completely Free

One of the biggest free events is the Street Festival, happening from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Thursday, November 12 through Saturday, November 14.

There will also be a sneak peek during Wednesday night’s kickoff celebrations.

Throughout the Festival, expect an outdoor stage with live entertainment from local artists, partner experiences, a family-friendly licensed beer garden and because we’re in Calgary a pancake breakfast.

You’ll also find warming stations throughout the Festival, which we’re guessing will become everyone’s favourite attraction if November decides to remind us that we live in Alberta.

There’s even an interactive art installation where you can open different doors and discover CFL locker rooms and stadiums from across Canada.

But once the sun goes down, the Festival changes again.

There Are FREE Drone Shows Every Night

This might be one of the coolest free things happening during Grey Cup week.

After dark, the Street Festival, presented by Suncor will transform with experience and nightly drone shows.

That alone gives us a reason to visit the Festival twice, once during the day and again after dark.

Just maybe bring a toque.

It is November in Calgary, after all.

The Family Zone, presented by TELUS Is Huge — And Also Free

If you’re wondering what there is to do with kids during Grey Cup Festival, this might be your answer.

Two halls inside the BMO Centre will become a massive free Family Zone.

There will be live entertainment, a children’s variety stage, bouncy castles, a toddler play area, mechanical bulls and opportunities to meet CFL players and alumni during autograph sessions.

Kids can also try football activities with Football Alberta, learn about traditional Indigenous games demonstrated by Dodging Horse Ranch and explore displays from the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

We were also really happy to hear about some of the accessibility considerations being incorporated into the space.

The Family Zone will include a private infant feeding and changing area, along with a sensory-friendly space featuring adjusted lighting and sound, comfort aids and sensory kits with items including headphones, ear protection, fidgets and maps.

That’s the kind of detail that can make a huge difference for families deciding whether an event will actually work for them.

There Are Concerts Throughout Grey Cup Week

Football might be bringing everyone together, but there will be plenty of live music too.

The Festival kicks off on Wednesday, November 11 at the Big Four Roadhouse with Canadian rock band The Trews.

Then on Thursday, November 12, Alan Doyle featuring The Strumbellas, takes the stage as part of the Festival’s concert lineup.

But Saturday is where things get interesting.

Because there’s a concert you can buy tickets to without knowing who you’re actually going to see.

Would You Buy Tickets to a Secret Country Concert, presented by Bud Light?

On Saturday, November 14, the Big Four Roadhouse is hosting a country concert.

There’s just one catch:

They’re not telling us who’s performing yet.

Tickets are being sold before the artist is revealed, with organizers teasing that country music fans are going to want to be there.

It’s a pretty bold way to sell a concert.

Would we buy tickets without knowing who’s performing?

We’re definitely curious.

And if you want to make Saturday even more Calgary, there’s something else happening that day.

Yes, Grey Cup Festival Has Rodeos

Football and rodeo in the same weekend?

Of course Calgary found a way.

There will be two rodeos on Saturday, November 14 at the Nutrien Western Event Centre, with both a matinee and evening show.

Events include bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback and wild pony racing, with live country music from Alberta artist Drew Gregory.

Which means you could theoretically spend Saturday watching a rodeo and then head straight to a secret country concert, presented by Bud Light afterward.

Very Calgary.

Team Parties, Presented by FanDuel, Are Taking Over the BMO Centre

Now, if you actually are coming for the football, you’ll probably want to know about this.

Starting Thursday, November 12, CFL team parties will take over spaces inside the BMO Centre.

CFL teams will have a home base to celebrate their colours, connect, and share the excitement of the Festival. Pass holders will have the flexibility to move between and experience other team rooms.

So whether you’re cheering for a team from Alberta or travelling across the country for Grey Cup weekend, you’ll have somewhere to meet new friends, connect with old ones, and party with your crew.

And probably argue about football.

There’s a Girls in Sport Summit, Presented by William Huff and Inter Pipeline, Too

Another addition to the Festival is the Girls in Sport Summit, happening on Saturday, November 14 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The event is being designed for 300 girls ages 8–14, who can choose between football and cheer programming.

And importantly, no previous experience is required.

A Cheer Extravaganza featuring CFL cheer and dance teams will follow the summit.

The 113th Grey Cup Game Day Starts With a FREE Tailgate

Everything eventually leads to Sunday, November 15, when the 113th Grey Cup takes place in Calgary.

But you don’t necessarily need a game ticket to be part of the atmosphere.

Before kickoff, there will be a free tailgate from 1–5 p.m. in the East Parking Lot, featuring entertainment, activations and food and beverages available for purchase.

There will also be a separate paid VIP Game Day Tailgate experience presented by FanDuel.

So even if you aren’t heading inside for the 113th Grey Cup itself, you can still get a taste of game day.

What’s Free at Grey Cup Festival Calgary?

This was probably the biggest surprise for us.

You can experience a pretty significant portion of Grey Cup week without buying a ticket.

Free programming includes the Street Festival, nightly drone shows, Family Zone and Sunday Game Day Tailgate, along with other entertainment and experiences happening throughout the Festival.

That makes it much easier to simply head down, wander around and see what you find rather than feeling like you need to commit to an expensive weekend.

Ticketed events, including concerts and rodeos, can be purchased separately at GreyCupFestival.ca

Is the Grey Cup Festival Worth Going to If You Don’t Watch Football?

Based on everything announced so far, absolutely.

And we think that’s actually the most interesting thing about the Grey Cup Festival.

Calgary isn’t just hosting a championship football game.

For five days, we’re getting concerts, rodeos, family activities, parties, food, live entertainment, drone shows and free experiences happening around the city.

You can go all-in on CFL football.

Or you can show up for a pancake breakfast, wander through the Street Festival, take your kids to the Family Zone, watch a drone show and call it a day.

That’s what makes this feel like a Calgary event rather than just a football event.

The Grey Cup hasn’t been back here in years, so if there was ever a year to see what the Festival is actually about, this might be it.

So saddle up, Calgary.

This is the Grey Cup, and this one’s for us.
