After two food review rounds at the Calgary Stampede Midway, we still weren’t done eating.
This time, we focused on some of the newest, most talked-about midway foodsfrom loaded Korean fries and garlic chicken bites to pickle pizza, truffle fries, and even a dessert that looked way better than it tasted.

1. Hankki Seoul Stampede Fries

Our Rating: ⭐ 8.5/10
These were one of our favourite surprises of the day.
Imagine crispy fries loaded with Korean flavours, cheese, sauces, and toppings that make every bite different. The portion was generous enough to share, and the flavours worked really well together without feeling overwhelming.
Would we order them again?
Absolutely.
If you’re looking for something filling that isn’t just another order of plain fries, this is an easy recommendation.
2. Amsterdam Truffle Fries
📍 Poutine King
Price: $25.00
Our Rating: ⭐ 8.5/10
These definitely aren’t your average midway fries.
The combination of crispy fries, creamy sauce, parmesan, and truffle flavour made them feel much more like restaurant food than carnival food.
They’re definitely on the pricier side, but they’re also one of the better savoury dishes we tried this year.
Perfect for sharing between two people.
3. Garlic Parmageddon
📍 Steve-O’s Fried Chicken
Price: $22.00
Our Rating: ⭐ 8/10
If you’re a garlic lover, this one is for you.
These crispy chicken bites were covered in garlic parmesan seasoning with plenty of flavour in every bite.
The chicken stayed juicy inside while the coating stayed crispy, which is always a win at Stampede.
We’d happily order these again, especially if you’re craving something savoury instead of all the crazy dessert options.
Lava Whip
📍 Soft Serve
Price: $10.00
Our Rating: ⭐ 7/10
This one looked incredible.
The presentation definitely caught our attention, and it photographs beautifully.
Taste-wise though, it didn’t quite live up to the hype.
It wasn’t bad by any means it just wasn’t as memorable as some of the other desserts we’ve tried this year.
If you’re choosing just one dessert, we’d probably spend our money elsewhere.
5. Pickle Pizza & Taki Pickle Pizza
📍 Rick’s Pizza
Price: $11.00 each
Our Rating: ⭐ 8/10
Pickle lovers… this one’s for you.
We tried both the classic Pickle Pizza and the Taki Pickle Pizza.
The regular version had a nice balance of creamy sauce, cheese, and tangy pickles, while the Taki version added a crunchy, spicy twist that actually worked better than we expected.
If you enjoy dill pickles, either one is worth trying.
6. Cookie Dough Coconut Croc
📍 Ogopogo
Price: $15.00
Our Rating: ⭐ 8.5/10
Dessert lovers will appreciate this one.
Warm cookie dough paired with sweet toppings made for a rich, indulgent treat that’s definitely best shared.
It isn’t something we’d eat after already trying six other midway foods but if you’re ending your evening with dessert, this is a solid choice.
Our Overall Thoughts
One thing we’ve noticed after trying dozens of Calgary Stampede foods this year is that the best dishes aren’t always the craziest ones.
Some of the simpler ideas, when they’re executed well, end up being the most memorable.
