One of our favourite things about Calgary is that some of the best date nights don’t require a big budget.
For Episode 3 of Date Nights Under $40, we kept things simple by picking up dinner from Banh Mi Thi Thi before heading across the street for a walk along the RiverWalk.
If you’ve never been to Banh Mi Thi Thi, it’s a small, no-frills shop that’s incredibly popular with the downtown crowd. Lunch hour usually comes with a lineup, so we recommend stopping by a little later in the afternoon. Just remember—they close around 5:30 PM.
For dinner, Adi ordered the Super Chicken & Beef Satay Sub ($10) while I went with the Chicken Satay Sub ($9.50). We also grabbed a pop to share, bringing our entire date night to about $22.
With our food in hand, we walked over to the RiverWalk, found a quiet spot by the water, and enjoyed a picnic before taking a stroll along the river.
There’s something refreshing about slowing down, sharing a great meal, and enjoying each other’s company without feeling like you have to spend a lot of money.
