If there’s one thing we look forward to every Calgary Stampede, it’s the midway food. Every year vendors come up with bigger, bolder and sometimes downright wild creations, and naturally, we had to try as many as we could
After spending days eating our way through the midway (yes, our stomachs deserve an award), we’ve rounded up some of our favourite new foods, hidden gems, and returning must-tries. Below you’ll find our honest ratings, prices, and where to find each item so you can decide what’s worth spending your Stampede dollars on.
🥟 Crispy Ginger Beef Progies

📍 International Perogies
💰 $28.10 (Winner of Best New Midway Food 2026)
⭐ 9/10
If you love ginger beef, this one is a no-brainer.
Imagine crispy perogies piled high with crispy ginger beef, crunchy wontons, fresh green onions, tangy pickled onions and a generous drizzle of sour cream. Every bite had the perfect balance of sweet, savoury and crunchy.
Despite the hefty price tag, the portion is huge and easily shareable.
Would we order it again? Absolutely.
🍤 Hawaiian Shrimp Fries

📍 KYU Grill
💰 $19.00
⭐ 8.5/10
KYU Grill brought one of the freshest tasting dishes we tried.
Golden fries are loaded with crispy shrimp, sweet Hawaiian-inspired sauce, bright pickled cabbage, sesame seeds and fresh green onions.
The sweetness works surprisingly well with the crispy shrimp, giving it a tropical twist without being overwhelming.
Perfect if you’re looking for something different from the typical midway food.
🥭 Mango Chicken Hero

📍 KYU Grill
💰 $16.00
⭐ 8.5/10
Think of this as a giant sandwich packed with crispy chicken, mango sauce, fresh toppings and creamy drizzle inside a soft toasted bun.
The sweet mango paired nicely with the crispy chicken and made this one surprisingly filling.
Definitely one of the better value meals we found.
🥔 Crunchy Samosa Chaat

📍 Mumbai Bites
💰 $14.00
⭐ 9/10
This might be one of the most flavourful dishes on the midway.
Crunchy samosas are broken apart and topped with chickpeas, chutneys, yogurt, onions, herbs and spices to create an explosion of flavour in every bite.
If you’re someone who loves Indian street food, don’t skip this one.
🌭 Stamp’n Dog

📍 Mumbai Bites
💰 $18.00
⭐ 8/10
Not your typical corn dog.
This hot dog gets the Mumbai street food treatment with bold spices, crunchy toppings, sauces and fresh vegetables.
It’s messy but in the best possible way.
🍣 Inari Sushi

📍 Kachi Kachi World
💰 $30 (Box of 5)
⭐ 10/10
Our highest-rated food of the year.
Each piece of inari sushi was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The variety makes it easy to share, and every single piece impressed us.
Yes, it’s one of the pricier options on the midway but if you’re looking for something unique that doesn’t feel like carnival food, this is it.
🍕 Cheesy Saddle Slice

📍 Pizza 73
💰 $15.00
⭐ 9/10
Pizza 73 is back again this year with another fun midway creation.
The Cheesy Saddle Slice is loaded with cheese and toppings, making it a satisfying handheld snack while walking the grounds.
If you’re a pizza lover, this deserves a stop.
🍪 Deep Fried Oreo

📍 Gourmet Gluten Free
💰 $13.00
⭐ 8.5/10
Some midway classics never disappoint.
Warm, gooey Oreos wrapped in fried batter and dusted with powdered sugar.
Crispy outside.
Soft chocolate centre.
Exactly what you’d expect and that’s a good thing.
🥤 Cotton Candy Cowgirl

📍 Dirty Soda
💰 $9.00
⭐ 8/10
Need something refreshing?
This colourful drink combines creamy soda with sweet cotton candy flavours for a fun Stampede-inspired drink.
It’s sweet, refreshing and definitely Instagram worthy.
🍨 Piña Colada Churro Sundae

📍 Mi Churro
💰 $15.00
⭐ 9/10
One of the most unique desserts we tried.
Creamy piña colada soft serve topped with whipped cream and served alongside fresh churros for dipping.
It’s rich enough to share and makes a great dessert after exploring the midway.
🍉 Fried Watermelon

📍 Mr. Pickle
💰 $11.99
⭐ 6/10
We were excited for this one…
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for us.
The watermelon loses much of its fresh flavour once fried, and while it’s certainly unique, we don’t think we’d order it again.
Still, if you’re someone who loves trying the weirdest midway foods every year, this might be worth checking out just for the experience.
