The good news is that there really isn’t a bad seat inside GMC Stadium.

Because of the way the stadium is designed, you’ll have excellent sightlines from almost every section. Whether you’re sitting lower down near the action or higher up with a panoramic view of the entire stadium, you’ll still have a fantastic experience.

That said, there are definitely a few sections we’d recommend over others depending on what you’re looking for.

Our biggest recommendation is to arrive at least one hour before your scheduled event, although we’d encourage you to come even earlier if your schedule allows.

Both the Rodeo and Evening Show tickets include admission to Stampede Park for the entire day, so take advantage of it.

Spend a few hours exploring the midway, visiting the Agriculture Zone, watching some of the free entertainment, grabbing a fresh squeezed lemonade, or trying one of the new midway foods before making your way to the stadium.

Whether you’re driving or taking Calgary Transit, give yourself more time than you think you’ll need.

Stampede is one of Calgary’s busiest events of the year, especially before the Evening Show and on weekends.

If you’re driving, expect heavier traffic as you get closer to Stampede Park.

If you’re taking Calgary Transit, trains become much busier leading up to both performances, but it’s still one of the easiest ways to get to GMC Stadium.

One of our favourite ways to experience the Evening Show is to turn it into a full evening out.

If you’re looking for something a little more elevated, GMC Stadium offers two fantastic premium dining experiences.

Ranahans

Located on the third level of the north end of GMC Stadium, ranahans combines western charm with a more refined dining experience.

It’s a fantastic option for date nights, celebrations, or anyone wanting to enjoy dinner before the show in a quieter setting.

Expect elevated western-inspired cuisine, an excellent wine selection, and beautiful stadium views.

Located on the fourth level, The Lazy S offers one of the most premium hospitality experiences available during the Calgary Stampede.

• A lightweight poncho if rain is in the forecast.
• Sunscreen for afternoon performances.
• Sunglasses and a hat for daytime Rodeo events.

You’ll be much happier carrying one extra layer than wishing you’d brought one.

You don’t need expensive camera equipment to capture great memories.

For most visitors, your phone is more than enough.

Modern smartphones take fantastic photos and videos, and they’re much easier to carry around during a full day at Stampede.
