Pancreatic cancer’s first Alberta charity run is happening right here in Calgary this year. Here’s everything you need to know before early bird pricing closes June 12th.
There are events we share because they’re fun, and there are events we share because they matter. Sometimes an event manages to be both at once, and when that happens it feels important to make sure it gets in front of as many people as possible. Kicking PancreAS 2026 is that kind of event, and if you’ve been looking for a reason to lace up this summer, or a cause worth rallying your people around, this is it.
Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of any cancer. It is underfunded, underdiagnosed, and affects families across this country in ways that most people don’t fully understand until it touches someone close to them. Kicking PancreAS is a national movement built to change that, and 2026 marks the very first time it’s coming to Alberta. Calgary is the starting point for something that we genuinely hope grows year over year, and that makes showing up for this first edition feel meaningful in a specific way.
What Kicking PancreAS Actually Is
Kicking PancreAS 2026 is a 5K run and walk open to all levels and abilities. This is not a competitive race. It is not an event built for people who train seriously or who have a personal best they’re chasing. It is a 5K built around the idea that every single person who shows up and crosses that finish line is contributing to something larger than the distance they covered, and that every dollar raised alongside every step taken goes directly toward pancreatic cancer awareness, patient support, healthcare education, and Canadian research.
Every dollar raised stays in Canada. That matters to us, and we think it matters to you too.
The event includes a finisher medal, a running bib, and event swag, and the organizers are encouraging participants to wear purple and glow-in-the-dark gear, costumes welcome. There is something genuinely joyful about a charity run that leans into colour and community rather than treating the whole thing like a solemn occasion, and we appreciate that Kicking PancreAS has found that balance. You can show up in full glow-in-the-dark costume and still be doing something serious and meaningful with your evening.
The Details You Need Right Now
Race kit pick-up runs on June 12th, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Running Room Glenmore Landing Shopping Centre, located at 1600 90 Ave SW, Unit A126, Calgary. Early bird pricing of $45 is available until June 12th, so if you’re registering you want to do it before that date to lock in the lower rate.
A few things worth knowing before you go: spots are limited, and there is no onsite registration. This is not an event where you can decide on the day and show up. You need to register in advance, which means if this is on your radar at all, the time to act is now rather than later.

Why We’re Sharing This
We share a lot of events on Made For Wanderers, restaurants, markets, concerts, experiences across Calgary that we think are worth your time. This one sits in a different category, and we want to be honest about that rather than folding it into the same language we’d use for a night market or a happy hour.
Pancreatic cancer does not get the research funding or public awareness that other cancers do, despite having outcomes that make it one of the most urgent areas of need in Canadian oncology. Kicking PancreAS exists to change that, and the fact that it’s coming to Alberta for the first time in 2026 means Calgary has an opportunity to show up for something that genuinely needs the support.
You don’t need to be a runner. You don’t need to be personally connected to pancreatic cancer to participate. You just need to be willing to show up, walk or run 5K, and be part of a community that is trying to move the needle on something that matters. Bring a friend, bring a partner, bring your whole group, the fundraising component means the more people you rally, the greater the collective impact.
How to Make the Most of It
Register before June 12th to lock in early bird pricing at $45. Set up your fundraising page when you register and share it with your network, even small individual donations add up quickly when enough people are involved, and every dollar stays in Canada funding programs and research that directly help patients and families here.
Plan your outfit. Wear purple. Consider the glow-in-the-dark gear seriously because if you’re going to show up for something, you might as well show up fully.
Pick up your race kit on June 12th between 4:00 and 6:00 PM at Running Room Glenmore Landing, and then show up on race day ready to move.
Our Final Thought
Calgary is a city that shows up for its community. We’ve seen it at every market, every charity event, every gathering where people are asked to come together around something that matters. Kicking PancreAS 2026 is asking Calgary to show up for the very first time, and we think this city is going to answer that.
Register, rally your people, and wear purple.
Wander over to Kicking PancreAS this June, because we believe we are all made to wander, and the steps that matter most are the ones we take for each other.
